Museum of
Women in the
Arts (NMWA)

its 24th
Annual
Spring Gala
celebrating
Divine and
Human: Women
in Ancient
Mexico and
Peru.
Featuring
over 300
objects,
including
ancient
artifacts,
ceramics,
textiles,
metalwork,
and jewelry,
this
exhibition
is the first
to focus on
the
extensive
influence of
women in Pre-Columbian
culture. It
is organized
around seven
themes
reflecting
the various
spheres of
feminine
life:
Society,
Politics,
and Religion;
Sacred
Origins of
Food;
Textiles and
Clothing;
Physical
Ornamentation;
Magic and
the Occult;
Daily Life
and its
Origins; and
Goddesses.
This year’s
gala
promises to
be a lavish
and elegant
affair
attended by
over 400
guests that
include VIPs
and
luminaries
from
Washington’s
diplomatic,
government,
and social
communities.
The Gala
will begin
at 6:30
p.m.,
followed by
the silent
auction,
cocktails,
dinner and
dancing.

in the Great
Hall, 2nd
and 3rd
Floor
Galleries
and
Mezzanine
levels of
the National
Museum of
Women in the
