2006 Ambassador Carlos de Icaza participated in
a roundtable within the framework of the 10th
Congressional Border Issues Conference, organized
by the Mexico-U.S Chamber of Commerce. Congressmen
Jim Kolbe and Silvestre Reyes moderated the
session. Other participants include Rep. Michael
McCaul; Rep. Xavier Becerra; Ambassador Crecencio
Arcos, Director of International Affairs at the
Department of Homeland Security; Mr. Hector
Flores, President of LULAC; as well as journalists

Icaza propone a EU asociación binacional en la
materia WASHINGTON.- El embajador de México en
Washington, Carlos de Icaza, propuso ayer una
asociación binacional para lograr flujos
migratorios legales y ordenados. Sin embargo,
críticos de la inmigración indocumentada dijeron
que primero es necesario que Estados Unidos
controle sus fronteras. "México quiere adelantar
la cooperación bilateral sobre migración porque
reconocemos nuestras responsabilidades, y porque
esta gran tierra de oportunidades se ha convertido
en lugar para millones de nacionales mexicanos",
dijo el representante mexicano De Icaza, durante
una intervención en la 10 Conferencia de Temas
Fronterizos del Congreso estadounidense,
organizada por la Cámara de Comercio Estados
Unidos-México.
